Personal Profile

Ji Wei is a Wu Yuzhang Chair Professor in the Department of Physics at Renmin University of China and the Chairperson of the Young Teachers' Science and Technology Association. He was a young scholar in the first - batch (2015) of the National High - level Talent Award Program and was selected as a distinguished professor of this program in 2021. He has also been selected as a young top - notch talent in the National Special Support Program (2014), a young teaching master in Beijing (2022), and a Tianfu Scholar in Sichuan Province (2023). He has been listed as a highly - cited Chinese scholar by Elsevier (since 2021) and a globally highly - cited scientist by Clarivate (2023).


He has long been committed to developing and applying unique first - principles calculation methods. Focusing on the surface and interface problems in future information - functional materials and devices and atomic - scale manufacturing technologies, he has carried out relevant basic scientific research. He has published more than 200 papers in journals including Science, Science Advances, Nature Materials, Nature Nanotechnology, Nature Chemistry, Nature Communications, PRL, and JACS, with the number of citations exceeding 14,000 (WoS data). Some of his research achievements have been selected as materials for international stamps in 2011, included in the top ten scientific advances in China in 2013 and the annual picture of Nature, listed among the top 100 most influential international academic papers in China in 2014 and 2015, and awarded the second - class prize of the Beijing Science and Technology Award in 2016.


Currently, he serves as a member of the Computational Materials Science Committee of the Chinese Materials Research Society and an editorial board member of Science Bulletin, Chinese Physics B, Acta Physica Sinica, 2D Materials, and Frontiers of Physics. Research Interests

Closely integrated with experiments, focusing on simulations of low-dimensional quantum states, including three directions:


  1. Prediction of low-dimensional materials and device physics: Interlayer coupling mechanisms and property prediction of two-dimensional magnetic, electric polarization, and correlated materials; prediction of interface properties of electronic devices

  2. Physicochemical processes on surfaces and interfaces: Simulation of non-contact atomic force microscopy and scanning transmission electron microscopy; creation of surface artificial systems and prediction of special electronic states; simulation of physicochemical processes under electronic excited states

  3. Theories of atomic manufacturing: Principles of low-dimensional material creation; creation of new materials via chemical potential regulation; simulation of atomic motion under non-equilibrium excited states




Talent Cultivation

已培养博士生12人,(联合培养)硕士生5人,(联合培养)博士后3人。现在读博士生9人、硕士生2人。

培养研究生获人民大学吴玉章奖2次;研究生国家奖学金9人、京东奖学金1人次、光学奖学金3人次、北京市优秀毕业生4人。
